Psychology Q&A Discussion Panel
Instead of a keynote speech, this year we will end the School Conference with something a little different - our very own Psychology themed Q&A Discussion Panel.
David Erceg-Hurn will play the role of Q&A moderator Tony Jones.
The esteemed panel will feature (drum roll please...)
Educational and Developmental psychology extraordinaire Jan Fletcher
Org psych guru Mark Griffin
Cognitive scientist and slayer of climate change skeptics Stephan Lewandowsky
Clin psych and fan of metal band Arch Enemy \m/ Andrew Page
Person perception gun Romina Palermo
The panellists are not only experts in their own areas of research, but also about psychology and academia more broadly. They have (collectively) published hundreds of journal articles and books, secured millions of dollars in grant funding, engaged in collaborations with researchers from some of the world's most prestigious universities, edited journals, supervised countless students, been involved in hiring academic staff, dealt with the media, and so on.
This is your chance to pick the brains of these five very talented and knowledgeable people.
We are currently calling on YOU to submit questions for the panel to discuss. These questions could be about life during or beyond postgraduate study - for example, you might ask the panel for advice about what you can do during your studies to help secure a postdoc, tips on applying for grants, or strategies for balancing teaching and research commitments.
Or you could ask questions about big issues in Psychology more broadly. For example, psychologists have been criticised for paying little attention to replicating results and focusing too much on publishing whatever comes out 'significant' in a given study. Do the panelists think this is a genuine problem and if so, what ideas do they have about how to address it?
Alternatively, you might have a more oddball question for one or more of the panellist. For example, what is Andrew Page's favourite Metallica album and why?
SUBMISSION OF QUESTIONS FOR THE Q&A SESSION HAS NOW CLOSED
